VLN 5 - start-finish victory for the Alzen gang!

There are some stories in life that you just don't believe. Jürgen Alzen is withdrawing from the VLN after the quarrels surrounding the safety discussions on the Nordschleife, because it’s all a “Kindergarten" is. Now at Run 5 Jürgen Alzen brings the black Ford GT back to the Eifel, but does not want to drive himself. So he hires his brother Uwe, the Nordschleife expert before the gentleman. Together with Dominik Schwager, the two should drive the Ford GT in the fifth VLN round. Especially for the fans and of course for the main sponsor of his team: H&R.

And what is the Alzen group doing? They put the Ford GT on pole with an 8:08.022, just ahead of the Walkenhorst BMW Z4 “powered by Dunlop” (8:08.630) – the winners of VLN Run 4. The top 4 is completed by the Wochenspiegel Porsche with Weiss, Kainz and Krumbach as well as the only SLs this weekend with Mattschull, Ehret and van der Zande. And on top 5? The Lexus RC-F GT3 from Farnbacher Racing, still in the SP-X, with the two Farnbacher brothers at the wheel. The Japanese car's qualifying time of 8:14.314 was already respectably lower than the time of the following BMW Z4 from the Schubert team.

The training for the Frikadelli team was not so good, an 8: 20.490 should not have quite met the demands of the team around Klaus Abbelen, Sabine Schmitz and Patrick Huisman.

Run 5 - Half time in the VLN season 2015

The race was clearly dominated by the team around Jürgen Alzen, who were back at the start. A start-finish victory couldn't be made much clearer. The race of the Ford GT in the SP-X was not entirely free of problems. A contact with a BMW in the Hohenrain chicane, less than an hour into the race, led to a pit stop - and failing to meet the minimum standing time there also resulted in a stop-and-go penalty shortly afterwards. By the halfway point of the race, however, the problems for the black racer with the silver H&R lettering were forgotten again - on the BMW Z4 from Walkenhorst “powered by Dunlop” that was leading at that moment, the Alzen-Ford was sometimes gaining up to 7 seconds per lap! The Alzen-Ford held on, the two top drivers hit the Eifel asphalt with incredibly good times and took the deserved victory in the end!

The Lexus RC-F GT3 from Farnbach also drove a special race. Started from the top 5, after the pit stop the Alzen squad returned to start-finish as the front runners from the “Green Hell” after only 45 minutes in the race, fought in the race with the Phoenix Audi down to the bottom layer of paint - the Japanese driver drives In the end, Brummer crossed the finish line in second place, only 2 seconds behind after 14.5 hours!

And the fastest meatball in the world? An impact after almost 90 minutes in the gallows head area ended the race for Abbelen, Schmitz and Huisman.

The podium is completed by the BMW drivers from the Walkenhorst team. The winners of VLN run number 4, Cerruti, Krohn and Laser finish VLN run 5 in third place.
