The Mean Mower is based on the Honda series lawnmower HF 2620. However, the original steering was replaced by a rack and pinion steering of the Morris Minor, wheels and tires come from a Honda ATV. The most important ingredient to make Saturday's duty a pleasure comes from a HONDA Superbike and is under the hood of the red lawnmower. At 8.700 revolutions, 109 HP are available - that would otherwise be sufficient for 7 lawn mowers.
Equipped with a sequential 6-speed gearshift, the Honda Mean Mower is now the fastest lawnmower in the world and drove into the Guinness Book of Records at a record speed of 187,6 km / h.
Theoretically, at this official record speed, the flagpole has not yet been reached. The Mean Mower is said to run at over 200 km / h, so you're only brave enough.
The driver sits on the grindstone like the proverbial monkey, not much is left of the originally comfortable seat above the greenery. Pinched in the almost 50 centimeter wide racing kart bucket seat, the knees just in front of the chest and the small racing steering wheel in front of the nose, the brave forest and meadow pilot switches through the six gears.
To catapult the rear-wheel-drive lawnmower to 100 km / h, a whimsical four seconds are enough - even Porsche drivers can be enraptured. With an empty weight of 140 kilograms and an output of 109 hp, the weight remains 1.9 kg / hp. Without a driver - whereby the almost 50 centimeter wide half-bucket seat ensures a natural selection among the drivers. Hip fat is not allowed on this lawn tractor.
But before the Mean Mower could officially become the fastest lawnmower, it had to prove that it also mastered its basic ability to mow the lawn. And he does that faster than the original. The seat mower can be used to shorten the green up to a speed of 24 km / h.
Anyone who is already considering how he can convince the wife of the need for a lawn tractor to mow the 15m² garden behind the single-family house on Saturdays must now be very tough: The mean mower finds its way into the Guinness Book, but not to the Honda dealer and will remain a one-off.
