IAA 2015: The Highlight in the Blogger World?

Every two years the doors slam in Frankfurt. At the largest automobile fair in the world, the journalists first hand the handle and then up to 900.000 visitors. And there is a reason that the fair in Frankfurt is so popular. At no other automobile fair are there more manufacturers, show more cars or present more innovations. Frankfurt is the Mecca of automobile fairs. Also in 2015!

A group of blogs and online websites decided to present their personal highlights in 2015. Here comes the IAA highlight from mein-auto-blog in 2015:

IAA highlight 2015: The new Opel Astra Tourer

Congratulation! Looks good!

It was clear that Opel would present the new Astra at the IAA. The fact that the “combi version”, called the “Tourer” by the people from Rüsselsheim, was added came as a surprise to me. The first “Walk around” on the new Astra a few weeks ago was interesting. Of the new Opel Astra seemed convincing. And even if the “compact car class”, which is often referred to as the “golf class”, lives from the hatchback, we in Europe still like to drive the “station wagon”. And in Germany the “Kombi, Tourer, Avant” is still particularly popular. This makes the respective derivative all the more important in this vehicle class. And what Opel presents there, yes, it looks really good!

Opel Astra Tourer - world premiere and IAA highlight 2015

Of course there are dozens of new products in Frankfurt. One often more beautiful than the other. Cars that you will never drive yourself. Cars, unattainably expensive. Dreams for mere mortals and many great concepts that will never make it onto the streets. The mein-auto-blog highlight of the IAA 2015 should be a little more down-to-earth. A car for “you & me” – a car that you can afford. After the premiere of the Opel Astra Tourer, the choice could only fall on this station wagon!

He looks good!

While I particularly like the look of the Astra Tourer. It's the back that's really successful. Does Opel also want the tourer to impress with its talents? Less curb weight (-200 kg!!!) and still more space, even though the Astra Tourer has remained as large as its predecessor. With a length of 4.70 meters and a width of 1.81 meters, the Rüsselsheimer is just about the “feel-good size”. After all, you want to park the station wagon in the city.

Shopping tours should be more effective thanks to the storage space extended to up to 1.630 liters (+ 40 liters) and those who only partially fold the rear seats will be happy about the 40-20-40 division.

So that the Pampersbomber is also fun for dad, Opel will offer engines with up to 200 hp for the Astra Tourer. The entire performance range runs from 95 to 200 hp.

The IAA highlight from mein-auto-blog is really reasonable this time!

And what do your colleagues say?

Let’s see what our colleagues have chosen as a “highlight”. There's Jens Stratmann from rad-ab.com. Its highlight is the S-Class Cabrio. Well - I could live with that too, but completely among us, probably the Astra Tourer is financially more affordable for all of us! Or Kai Domröse from mein-elektroauto.com, For him it is (in my opinion) optically boring Audi study XQ6, also known as the e-Tron Concept. A coupé SUV that Audi wants to present as a pure e-vehicle. Well then. The main thing is that their designer is finally in the pot! The energy blogger Daniel Bönnighausen has that on autophoria Peugeot Fractal Concept on its IAA highlight explained. I had to google that myself first. Well that AutoBild has already put a seat test - I personally find this study an air number. With Peugeot / Citroen you have completely different problems. A show car with more sound than content is the wrong way to go. With Lisa from hyyperlic, an entire hall is already in the highlight. Lisa is from the “New Mobility World” enthusiastic. At the “New Mobility World” everything revolves around the topics: “Connected Car, Automated Driving, E-Mobility, Urban Mobility and Mobility Services” and thus the future of the automobile. I confess that when I thought about it, I didn't think about this world of topics. But Lisa is absolutely right – “New Mobility World” is an exciting topic! Matthias Luft from motoreport was thinking more like me again. His IAA highlight in 2015? Real driving pleasure from Italy: he chooses the new Giulia from Alfa Romeo to his personal highlight. Well, I can understand this decision very well - if the Giulia technically does what it promises visually - then it should Audi will buy out the shop from FIAT faster than you can say “DKW”., Because if the Giulia becomes a success, then the purchase price should increase properly! So Audi, buy now! With Nicole from auto-diva.de (they still exist) there is a car on the Podium, which I did not have to google, but which personally disappointed me. The French call the sliced C4 Cactus Cactus M., Looks a bit like a beach buggy from the seventies and also has about its innovative strength. But Citroen is probably too involved at the moment other things employed. Tom Schwede from 1300ccm.de, whose idea is to link this “IAA highlight topic” across many blogs, has chosen “Project 2&4” decided. Understandable. The world's largest engine manufacturer wants to merge the automobile world and the two-wheeler world with this concept. The result is a “driving fun giant” based on the model of a KTM X-Bow. Very cool thing! Benny Hiltscher runs the largest BMW blog in Germany. On “bimmertoday” BMW fans can always find everything current about the brand from Munich. Be IAA highlight can only come from Munich, right? And so it is! Benny chooses the “new seven-series BMW” to his highlight! Surprised? 😉 And - last but not least - takes Thomas Gigold from autokarma took part in this “Best of” list. His choice? Also the Opel Astra station wagon, Why? The best way to read this is on his weblog!

Either way – no matter which car the bloggers chose as the IAA highlight, Opel deserves an extra trophy for being able to keep the station wagon secret as an “IAA premiere” for so long!
