Ice Ice Ferrari - The Shell Winter Driving Challenge

A winter wonderland of a different kind. Shortly before Christmas, Shell launched a very special test race that was supposed to give some fans and Formula 1 enthusiasts a surprising day. The mission: to challenge former Formula 1 professional and world champion Kimi Raikkonen, also known as "Iceman", on a snow-covered race track in the Swiss Alps in a go-kart race. The goal: to keep him behind for two rounds. The ultimate winter test for challengers and for vehicles that were able to defy extreme temperatures thanks to Shell V-Power fuels and Shell Helix Ultra motor oils.

The Dutch company has been supplying Scuderia Ferrari with fuel since the very beginning of Formula 1 in 1950. Since then Shell has accompanied the motorsport department of the sports car manufacturer Ferrari from success to success. They can already boast ten constructors 'and twelve drivers' championships. Shell invests up to 21.000 working hours a year in the Formula 1 program only to guarantee that technology transfer from the racetrack to the road will make a significant contribution to developing even better fuels and lubricants for customers around the world.

These were also used for this special challenge in the Swiss Alps. The Shell V-Power road fuel used here contains up to 99 percent the same mixture as in Formula 1. Made from natural gas, the oil helps drivers worldwide to protect their car's engine on all journeys - even with - 40 degrees. The best conditions for the challengers of Kimi Raikkonen, where the extreme performance of Shell Helix Ultra motor oils was once again demonstrated at extreme temperatures. This unique opportunity was made possible by Shell's innovation partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, one of the longest and best-known partnerships in the world of motorsport.

You can find out here whether the challengers have accomplished their mission and were able to drive away the perseverance of the "iceman":
