The feeble self-restraint of the German automotive industry sends its regards. For the manageable bloodletting of € 892,50 (Comma five!) also falls this restriction. An AMG driver training is then included and you get the 300 km / h as a bonbon on top. Unfortunately, someone forgot when configuring the test car to put exactly this hook in the options list.

The S65 AMG gives me a new horizon for a few days. What do people expect to lease a 3.000 PS strong sedan for over 630 € a month? It is a different world. It is not my world. But I find the impressions fascinating.

The 800 km that I drove in the days with the S65 AMG have left a lasting impression on me. Would I ever buy a car for that much money? Probably not. The individual factors that make an S-Class an S65 AMG are deeply impressive. The Bi-Turbo V12 is a force of aggregate. The long wheelbase, the chauffeur seats, the business class space on the back seat, the concert hall character of the Burmester facility - all of this is luxury in itself. If you combine these building blocks, you get a dimension of luxury that is no longer understandable for Otto-Normalo.

A purchase price of € 250.000 is at the end of the wish list if the S65 AMG L is equipped as the test car. Yes - of course plus the additional € 892,50 (Come on!) for “free driving” up to 300 km/h. An incredible amount of money – for a single car.

An S400 Hybrid costs €92.225, an S350 BlueTEC “only” €86.453,50. And you can also get the 12-cylinder for “just” €164.279,50. That's a lot of money on its own. But you should be aware that there is another well-equipped E-Class between the S600 and S65 AMG. So purely price-wise. Just to put the situation in perspective again!

One might think that parting from such a test car would be difficult.

He does. Short. But a kind of self-protection quickly sets in in the brain, similar to what happens when you lose a beloved pet. You can find arguments, which is why it's not that bad. You make statements that everything is getting better now. It wasn't all that impressive. And anyway - so much money for just one car.
