Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - Everyday life with the clever family SUV

One year ago we started the experiment with Mitsubishi and adopted the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid as a long-term test vehicle. 12 months without problems, but with a lot of experience are now behind us.

In front of krecently Mitsubishi has introduced the new model year for the Outlander. The facelift of Outlanders has especially in the PHEV variant made some changes. With the new face and the new rear section also came improvements that you do not recognize at first glance. For us it is exciting to learn the detail improvements of the first PHEV SUV in detail shortly.

Model year 2016 - The PHEV is becoming finer

In the driving report for the new Outlander PHEV (2016) we have already discussed some of the improvements. The chassis has been retuned, the insulation further improved and even in the area of the center console some changes were made.

We will take over the new Outlander PHEV in the coming week and then make the vehicle “winter-ready”. Last winter in particular, the Outlander PHEV caused a few astonished faces in our test. Both in the family and with colleagues who were allowed to drive the vehicle in the snow for the first time.

The traction of the all-wheel drive SUV is beyond any doubt - the driving comfort is convincing and thanks to the electric parking heater you never have to get into a cold car.

On the plan for the next months of the endurance test are these topics:

  • How to pair your smartphone with the Outlander PHEV's multimedia system?
  • Meaningful use of electric parking heater and logging of power consumption.
  • What advantage do the LED headlights of the new model bring?
  • First test with the “Power-Box” for 230V power consumption.
  • Test of Bi-Directional Ability.
  • Efficiency measurements. How economical can you drive? What is the maximum consumption?
