Just introduced today. The baby Benz that nobody wants to be anymore. Or as it was headlined weeks ago: The small S-Class.
However you like to see it, I really liked the new C-Class right away. I like the new design language and I also like the idea of positioning the C-Class more sportily than before. Some of the Mercedes technicians already spoke of the new C-Class would now be the better threesome BMW. Well, that will have to show on the driving presentation. Until then, it is still a little bit down. Time to deal with the configurator on the homepage of Mercedes-Benz.

First of all, the engine. Currently, Mercedes-Benz only offers three engines for the new C-Class my choice - as a frequent driver - would clearly fall on the C220 BlueTEC Diesel. Starting price: € 38.675
The next step in the configurator is the selection of equipment packages. Yes, Mercedes-Benz is also increasingly bundling the equipment details into packages. There are currently sensible ones such as the “START package” with seat heating for driver and front passenger, rain sensor and Active Parking Assist. The price for this is € 1.178,10. Just as useful, the driver assistance package for € 2.499. This means that the cruise control with Distronic moves into the car, Pre-Safe, BAS and Pre-Safe Plus, but at the same time the 7-gear automatic transmission. As long as the 9 gear is not yet available, the most sensible transmission choice!
Together: € 44.851 - interim result!
Who actually says that a Mercedes always has to be ordered in muted colors, mouse gray and C&A suit blue? The color “designo hyacinth red metallic” goes perfectly with the dynamic appearance of the new C-class, Chaddading, again 1.356,60 €.
The slim 16-inch rims may be acceptable for winter tires, but for the new C-Class there is also the AMG wheel in a “multi-spoke design” with a 19-inch diameter. That fits a lot better - makes another € 3.034,50.
Interim: 49.575,40 €
Of course, you can not go under the skeptical eyes of your neighbor with the bookkeeper fabric in the interior. So come on with the leather black. However, this selection combines different menu items and hence not only the leather black adorn the interior, but also the AMG-Line exterior the exterior view.
New status: 53.609,50 € and the menu item “Equipment” still remains for further refinement of the new C-Class.
The new panoramic sliding roof for € 2.106,30 should not be missing. Nor is the Thermotronic for three climate zones in the vehicle. Surcharge for this: € 702,10. The ambient lighting for € 261,80 will not exceed the purchase price, but it will bathe the interior in a mild light. So in with it.

The world's best seat air conditioning I have already experienced in many Mercedes models and without ventilation in my new Mercedes is nothing. So packed in and another 898,45 € noted on the wish list.
With the new C-Class, for the first time, you have the opportunity to enjoy a Burmester sound system in this segment, but you do not want to miss this opportunity. I note, another 922,25 €
In the package with the COMAND online system, the live traffic module and the traffic sign wizard, however, the purchase price increases to 3.150,50 €.

Head-up display, yes or no? I briefly look at the impressive number at the end of the configurator and decide to continue without it in the future. I definitely don't want to do without the high beam assistant in connection with the LED-Intelligent-Light System, another 1.725,50 € will go on the order form.
In the end it's 63.855,40 € and the realization that this small S-Class chooses the not so small S-Class course. In short: In D-Mark it is more than 120.000 that are called there, so real S-class dimensions. But the D-Mark has long been history and the new C-Class was probably never as valuable as it is today.
Well, because - the question remains: Hyacinth red - or not?
