Million fraud by hypercar

Supercars ensure reliable attention everywhere - even if they do not exist yet. Again and again, new small series manufacturers with extreme plans and flowery promises and accelerate the pulse of car enthusiasts, even though they can boast no more than a few impressive technical data and a computer drawing. Sometimes the super sports cars and luxury electric cars presented in this way are pure reveries, sometimes they even make it to the streets. In some cases, however, there is also fraud behind the high-flying plans.

The Milan Red belongs to the latter grouping. Last year, the Austrian Hypercar popped on the net for the first time: an extreme wedge, 1.325 PS strong, 400 km / h fast and almost two million euros expensive. The delivery of the first of the 99 only copies was announced for 2020. It does not come to that. The 37-year-old company boss has now been sentenced by the Vienna district court for serious fraud to a prison sentence of four years. The Austrian had just invented prominent prospects for his sports car and pulled several investors out of his pocket so nearly one million euros.

In what proportion of the Milan exaggerated automotive longing and serious intent to cheat now stood exactly the condemned must probably make out with his conscience. The fact that the business with dream cars is not easy, but had to recognize many manufacturers, whose soaring plans failed. Not necessarily out of evil will. One of the best-known examples of unfulfilled ambitions is the Veritas brand, named after an old German sports car legend. At the beginning of the decade she caused a sensation with the RS III, a flat and open hypercar with plenty of horsepower and extreme performance. Ready to drive prototypes were there, the series production was announced several times. However, it is unknown if a vehicle ever entered customer hands. Since 2014, it has become quiet around Veritas.

Another well-known revitalization failed, at the old GDR sports car brand Melkus. With the RS2000 Sepp Melkus, the son of the former founder of the brand Melkus, wanted to use the Ostalgie bonus and offered a chic retro sports car. The base was the Lotus Exige, which still received the special retro touch from Melkus. 2010 went out of production, the demand for the 115.000 Euro expensive and up to 270 PS strong sports car was low. Ultimately, only 18 vehicles were sold. But it is not over completely with Melkus. Furthermore, you can buy rebuilds of the original Melkus.
