New summer tire: more performance with the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2

With the new Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2, the tire manufacturer is expanding its range of UHP tires. UHP stands for “Ultra High Performance”. In the case of the Sport Maxx RT, an asymmetrical profile is chosen for the tire. It should combine high driving stability, the best steering precision, excellent grip and strong braking performance. Drivers with the highest demands on tire performance should be impressed.

One of the key features of the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 is the high profile stiffness in the transverse direction. The large shoulder blocks in the outer shoulder increase stability. The larger contact area to the road also allows better power transmission when cornering, so that a precise feedback on the steering wheel is felt. In addition, the steering precision should profit from this and thus enable stable handling.
Great emphasis was also placed on improved high-speed braking. The braking properties were very high up in the specifications in the development, which was achieved by an optimized profile geometry. In addition, the second generation of the Short Braking Blocks in the Sport Maxx RT2 was realized: The beveled tread blocks are now - in contrast to the previous model - arranged over the entire tread width. Thus, the profile stiffness in the longitudinal direction could be optimized, which should cause better adhesion and a shortening of the braking distance.

Of course, the engineers not only optimized these properties, but also tinkered with the grip. For this, the tread compound was adapted and derived from that in motorsport. Special adhesive resins and polymers should allow better adaptation of the tire structure to the road surface, which should provide greater traction on dry roads and better grip on wet surfaces. Added to this is a high-strength carcass, which provides a uniform pressure distribution and also to optimize the grip when cornering.

Available are the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 tires in different sizes and widths. The spectrum ranges from 17 to 21 inches, from a 205 mm width to 285 mm. This should be something for every sporty vehicle.
