Opel Corsa-e and Grandland X Hybrid4 - double electric world premiere

Opel is serious: The first electrified models with the lightning emblem can be ordered now. Delivered are the all-electric Corsa-e and the plug-in Hybrid Grandland X Hybrid4 but only the beginning of 2020.

SP-X / Rüsselsheim. An ambitious plan, a pithy saying: Opel boss Michael Lohscheller announced at the official world premiere of the purely battery-electric-powered Corsa-e in Rüsselsheim no less than to liberate electric mobility from their niche existence in Germany. "We promised a folk electric car - here it is!" And to underline that the brand with the lightning in terms of electrification of the in-house strategic plan PACE consistently implemented with the Grand Land X Hybrid4 as the first plug-in hybrid of the brand Opel under The roof of the French PSA Group celebrated an electric double premiere. Both vehicles can be ordered from now on, but will not roll to the first customers until the beginning of 2020.

With the Corsa-e, Opel promises to bring electromobility to the masses in this country. The successful small car, which at the end of the year in the now sixth generation, initially as a combustor (three three-cylinder Tubrobenziner with 75, 100 and 130 PS and 100 PS diesel) is launched at the start, has long since become a brand purchaser and is suitable quite a "Volkselektroauto". The Stromer has a power of 100 kW / 136 PS and 260 Nm torque. Its 50 kWh battery provides a range suitable for everyday use up to 330 kilometers (according to WLTP). From the household socket to the high-speed charger, it is prepared for all charging options. For example, with the 100 kW fast charger, the empty battery pack can be recharged to 30 percent within 80 minutes.

The Opel Corsa-e can now be ordered or reserved from 29.900 Euro and, of course, the benefits of purchase premium of a total of 4000 Euro to complete. The lowest selection of equipment includes automatic climate control with remote control, electric parking brake, keyless entry system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible 7 color touch screen multimedia radio. In addition, there are systems such as the front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and traffic sign recognition and Lane Keeping Assistants at no extra cost.

At the top end of the equipment list is the Corsa-e First Edition. 32.900 Euro also includes LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a two-color paint job and a fully digital cockpit. For the top version of the small Stromer Opel also offers a cheap monthly leasing rate from 299 Euro. Visually, the Rüsselsheim small car by changing proportions (lowering the roof line to 5 cm, longer wheelbase) despite almost unchanged length compared to the predecessor youthful and sporty and is full on the road.

A completely different caliber is the Grandland X Hybrid4, nevertheless an important building block of the PACE plan. The first Opel plug-in hybrid combines a 1,6-liter Tubrobenziner (147 kW / 200 PS) with two electric motors (each 80 kW / 109 PS), which bring together on a system performance of stately 300 PS. The front electric motor transmits its power via an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. The second E-Werk and the differential are integrated into the rear axle, which makes the Grandland X Hybrid4 at the same time the all-wheel drive.

The Hybrid4 is thus the new spearhead of the Rüsselsheim SUV portfolio from Grandland, Crossland and Mokka. Up to 52 kilometers (according to WLTP) drives the largest Opel SUV purely electric. The 13,2 kWh battery is fully charged in 1: 50 hours on an 7,4 kW wallbox. The unimportant standard consumption according to WLTP is 1,6 l / 100 km Super, the CO2 emission 37 g / km. As an extensive Business Edition, the Hybrid4 can now be ordered for 49.940 Euro. The delivery then takes place at the beginning of 2020. Here Opel offers leasing rates from 399 Euro monthly.

"After 120 years of automobile manufacture, the anniversary that we are celebrating this year, a new era is now beginning for Opel," emphasizes Michael Lohscheller. “Opel goes Electric.” Which is rather an understatement, because the brand with the lightning bolt already set striking accents in 2011 with the Ampera, an electric car with range extender, and recently with the range champion Ampera-e. Based on this experience, Rüsselsheim is also the competence center for e-mobility for the PSA Group.

"And we benefit here from the multi-energy platforms of the French," adds the CEO. Unlike some competitors, the Hesse do not rely on separate combustion and electric series, but offer their models either with two drives. "Until 2024, we will offer an electrified version in all series without exception," promises Lohscheller continue to keep his word. In addition to the Corsa-e, two more all-electric drives are to be added next year with the Vivaro and the new edition of the Mokka X. And also for fuel cell technology announces the Opel boss news.
