Tempo measurements still not correct

For several months, a speed camera has been criticized by the police and regulatory authorities for incorrect speed measurements. A rework has apparently brought nothing.

The controversial Leivtec XV3 speed camera apparently continues to measure incorrect speeds in motorists. According to a statement by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the monitoring device issued speed measurements in tests by experts, even after the operating instructions were revised, which violated the traffic error limits. In particular, to the detriment of the affected motorists.

The speed camera was already discussed in 2019 due to possible measurement errors. The manufacturer then modified the instructions for use. Apparently without success, as the PTB as the approval authority has now established. The Berlin police have already stopped the measurements with the Leivtec device, as reported by the RBB. Tens of thousands of measurements could be invalid in the capital alone. Motorists in other federal states can also hope that the respective fine proceedings will be discontinued. The ADAC at least recommends that the authorities suspend pending fine proceedings nationwide for the time being.
