We only had it a week ago, these special bodies from days gone by - when the manufacturer just supplied the chassis and then went to the sheet metal cutter of choice to get his very own line conjured up.

Touring, Pininfarina, Zagato, Bertone, Giugiaro, Vignale, Scaglietti, Fantuzzi - it could go on forever. They all made fantastic creations in thin sheet metal, back then. Today, unfortunately, looks a bit different, because you care at most about new stitching of the leather, paint-to-sample coatings, now and then new rims, woods, top cloths and in general, the main thing the neighbor does not have the identical Bentayga in front of the door stand. The individualization departments of the manufacturers are no longer in the face of these small-scale changes from laughing to sleep - so Porsche likes 50.000 EUR from its 918 Spyder customers, if they want to have the special "Liquid Metal" painted. For the Italians there are then a few thousand for those who do not like to see their calipers in red, but, say, pink with white dots.

So we do not want to know what the Ferrari 458 MM Speciale tasted.

Because in Maranello you are not only smart, as far as the extra charge for color special requests, no, here you may actually order as a customer still a body as desired. So it did a Briton, who was the new 488 with his turbo engine. His 458 Speciale should please turn into something unique, so a bit with quotes to 288 GTO, Lancia Stratos and just the modern, so F12 and 488. The aerodynamics should also be a bit better and: easier, if possible, too.

And so, in the past few days, they unveiled the one-of-a-kind piece in Fiorano, freshly rolled in by test boss Dario Benuzzi, painted in Bianco Italia, which features this beautiful wide-running tricolore stripe in the center of the car. Except for the doors, the Centro Stile has reworked all parts of the old Speciale. The CFRP bumpers optimize the air flow around the car, but even the water coolers in the bow had to be rearranged. In addition, the side air inlets now not only flow to the airbox, but a new simulation also improves the cooling in the engine compartment itself.

The windshield with the black A-pillars provides the desired wrap-around design, which, however, the Internet already back to the bone, that this one-off is just an expensive Lotus Evora.

One must confidently forget such comments and instead be pleased that Ferrari still today respond to the customer's request as a whole. And on the basis of the 458 Speciale is something very special, after all, the 605PS-V8 with its rated speed of 9000 revolutions is a truly unique jewel that will surely play even more freely in his new MM environment.
