Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo - sports sedan with a large load compartment

Porsche is adding a new body variant to the Panamera family with the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. And that in five versions: as the Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera 4S Diesel, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Panamera Turbo. Derived from the sports sedan, the new variant with a striking design makes a further statement in the luxury sports sedan segment.

At the same time, the Sport Turismo with an output of up to 404 kW/550 hp is extremely versatile. With a large tailgate, increased luggage compartment volume, low loading sill and a 4+1 seating concept. In this way, the new Panamera model should meet the demands of suitability for everyday use and variability.

Technically and conceptually, the Sport Turismo uses all the innovations of the Panamera series, which was completely renewed last year. These include the digitized Porsche Advanced Cockpit, groundbreaking assistance systems such as Porsche InnoDrive including adaptive cruise control, chassis systems such as rear-axle steering, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) electronic roll stabilization and powerful drives.

All Porsche Panamera Sport Turismos have Porsche Traction Management (PTM) on board as standard – an active all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. From the S models onwards, the adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology is also part of the standard equipment.

Family station wagon, leisure sports car or business motorhome

Like the coupé-like Panamera sports sedan, the Sport Turismo is characterized by very dynamic proportions. The vehicle is 5.049 millimeters long, 1.428 millimeters high and 1.937 millimeters wide. Between them spans a large wheelbase of 2.950 millimeters. In addition, short body overhangs and the up to 21-inch wheels characterize the silhouette of the sporty all-rounder.

From the B-pillars, i.e. the beginning of the rear doors, the Sport Turismo has a completely unique design towards the rear. An elongated window line and an equally long roof contour extend over the pronounced shoulder. Towards the rear, the roof drops less than the window line. This results in a striking and unmistakable D-pillar, which merges into the shoulder area like a coupé.

At the top, the roof merges into an adaptive spoiler. The angle of attack of the roof spoiler is adjusted in three stages depending on the driving situation and the selected vehicle settings and generates an additional downforce of up to 50 kilograms on the rear axle. Up to a speed of 170 km/h, the aerodynamic air deflector – a central system component of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) – when retracted reduces the air resistance with an angle of minus seven degrees and thus contributes to optimizing fuel consumption.

From 170 km/h, the roof spoiler of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo automatically moves to the performance position and increases driving stability and lateral dynamics with an angle of plus one degree. In the Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the roof spoiler moves into this position at a speed of 90 km/h. With active support, PAA adjusts the angle of the roof spoiler from 90 km/h to plus 26 degrees when the optional panoramic sunroof is opened. In this case, the spoiler helps to minimize wind noise.

There are now three passengers in the back

The new Sport Turismo is the first Panamera to be fitted with a three-seat rear seat. Since the two outer seats are designed as individual seats, there is a 2+1 configuration at the rear. The Panamera Sport Turismo can optionally be ordered as a four-seater with two electrically adjustable individual seats at the rear.

The higher roof line of the Sport Turismo makes it easier to get in and out of the rear and offers significantly more headroom there. The usability of the luggage compartment benefits from the wide-opening tailgate, which is electrically operated as standard, and the loading sill, which is only 628 millimeters low. Up to the upper edge of the rear seats, the Sport Turismo offers up to 520 liters (Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Tourism: 425 liters) 20 liters more storage volume than the sports sedan.

Loaded to the roof and with the rear seats folded down, the gain increases to around 50 liters. The three rear seat backrests can be folded down separately or completely; it is unlocked electrically from the luggage compartment. When all the backrests are folded down, the result is an almost level loading area. In this case, the loading volume increases to up to 1.390 liters (Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo: 1.295 liters).

For the luggage compartment of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, there is an optional luggage compartment management system. The variable system for safe transport includes, among other things, two fastening rails integrated into the loading floor, four lashing eyes and a luggage compartment partition net. If you want it, you can also get a 230-volt socket in the trunk.

The Sport Turismo is launched with five engines

The market launch of the Sport Turismo, which can already be ordered, will take place in Europe on October 7, 2017, and in the other markets at the beginning of November. The one will start new Porsches with five drive variants known from the sports sedan.

Prices in Germany start at 4 euros for the Panamera 243 Sport Turismo (330 kW/97.557 hp), for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo (340 kW/462 hp system output) at 112.075 euros, for the Panamera 4S Sport Turismo ( 324 kW/440 hp) at 120.048 euros, for the Panamera 4S Diesel Sport Turismo (310 kW/422 hp) at 123.975 euros and for the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo (404 kW/550 hp) at 158.604 euros, each including VAT.
