Renault Twingo: New clothes for the small car

The Renault Twingo: Since 1993 a real small (st) car classic. What began as a glub-eyed cube with an ingenious spatial concept is today a cooperation between Mercedes-Benz - or rather Smart - and Renault. This of course saves costs and leads to a know-how transfer. What qualities does the little Frenchman offer with his facelift, how does the updated appearance look and what else is in it? Just read on!

Went again smooth ...

Corners and edges? No, that can not serve the face-lifted Renault Twingo. Smooth and freshly shaved behave the refreshed model variant. Although the small car offers new headlights, which now have an LED daytime running lights and integrated LED turn signals. But he does not seem to be crooked or square. Something more conspicuous is rather the new front apron with a strong contour. This makes the Renault Twingo at least a little more dynamic and adult. Almost amazing: its side air intakes are not dummies, but actually direct cooling air to the wheel arches.

At the rear a similar picture: Exciting the Twingo does not work. Refreshed against it already. For example, Renault installed rear lights in C-shape, whose light signature in the dark should give more recognition. In addition, you installed on the rear apron decor inserts that pull the small car a bit in the width. The practical side shows the new, higher-positioned handle on the tailgate. And while the new alloy wheels, which are a maximum of 16 inches tall, are less noticeable, the new exterior colors of mango yellow and quartz white stand out clearly. To give the Renault Twingo even more individuality, of course, numerous optical personalization are possible.

What can the Renault Twingo in the interior?

In the interior, as the Frenchman would say, new interior look packages provide a breath of fresh air. Most importantly, they add more color to the instrument surround, to the steering wheel settings, the gear lever rim and the air vents. Pretty: Color matching seams on the seat cushions. Not really noticeable, but quite practical is the new center console, which now holds two USB interfaces. For other vehicles also not a highlight, but new in the Twingo: The now closed glove box.

For infotainment, Renault relies on the completely new "EASY Link" media system, which replaces the old "R-Link Evolution" system. The "R&GO" app is intended to enable the smartphone to be conveniently connected. Everything is adjusted via a high-resolution 7-inch display, which offers increased user-friendliness as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, a double microphone ensures improved speech quality, while the optimized sound of the audio system makes driving with music more pleasant. Another new feature is the little Frenchman's networking, which now enables navigation updates "over the air", for example. And so the refreshed Renault Twingo may not show more character, but it does show a sense of practicality. Well, c'est la vie!
