It all started at Le Mans. From 1966 to 1970, a Ford GT40 MKII took part in the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours. The original road version was sold to selected prospects. The racing car housed a 4,7 liter V8 engine in the rear.
Incidentally, the suffix "40" refers to the height of the vehicle. At that time, this was exactly 40 inches, i.e. around 101 centimeters.
The Legacy - The Ford GT Gulf Design
In order to finally be able to stand up to the Ferrari racing cars in the 24-hour race, a new 7-litre engine was built. The first racing success came immediately. A year later, the 24-hour race was won again with a new body.
The choice of color for the Ford GT40 was unmistakable. Through the sponsor Gulf Oil, the eye-catching and unmistakable company colors light blue and orange were painted on the long-distance racing cars for the first time. The legend and thus the icon of the Ford GT Heritage Gulf Design was born.

The Ford GT was produced from 2004 to 2006 in a total of 4038 units. However, there were only 343 vehicles in the special Gulf livery. The homage to the legendary American sports car is powered by a 5,4 liter V8 mid-engine with an engine output of 550 hp. This accelerates the Ford GT to 3,9 km/h in just 100 seconds. Its top speed is 330 km/h.
