Skoda Karoq - The trio is complete

As soon as the announcement of the new Skoda Karoq appeared, the first pictures of the camouflaged SUV flickered on the screen. It should be clear that he inherits the Skoda Yeti, whose name no longer fits into the Czechs' SUV nomenclature. This was initiated with the Skoda Kodiaq, which also gets its name from the dialect of the native people of Alaska. The new Skoda Karoq is located at eye level with the Seat Ateca and the Volkswagen Tiguan. Outlook on the compact SUV of the Czechs.

On May 18th the time has come: The Skoda Karoq is presented. The 4,38 meter long SUV is currently hidden under a striking camouflage film, but already allows a few conclusions. If you look closely, he is not just like his big brother, the Kodiaq, but also the corporate sibling Seat Ateca, From the predecessor, Skoda Yeti, however, not much remains.

The proportions of the Skoda Karoq are reminiscent of the Seat Ateca.

The Skoda Karoq also wants to be “simply clever”.

If you look at the proportions of the Karoq looks at everything suggests the Ateca as a close relative. This is two centimeters shorter (4,36 m), but that is mainly due to the design. There is also almost unanimity regarding the width of 1,84 meters and a height of 1,60 meters. The wheelbase of the Skoda Karoq is slightly variable, depending on the drive, but only a matter of millimeters. At around 2,63 meters, it is almost identical to that of the Ateca. In return, the Karoq offers a trunk volume of 521 liters, a few liters more than its Spanish counterpart. The Karoq, however, should be more variable than that and bring a back seat that can be moved and expanded. This results in a maximum loading volume of 1.810 liters.

While the rear section is also reminiscent of the Ateca - still camouflaged here ...

Compared to the previous Yeti, the Karoq will also offer significantly more new technology. This includes full-LED headlights that are already known from the Kodiaq. In addition, the new Czech will be the first Skoda with digital instruments. In addition, there are touch displays in different sizes: The highest quality system "Columbus“It even shines with an LTE hotspot, while the cheapest option doesn't have to hide either, since it already has CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link.

Conventional: two petrol, three diesel

... the front looks more striking with its typical brand grill.

There are five units to choose from for the drives. The two petrol engines are just as well known from the group shelf as the three diesels. You get started with the 1.0 TSI three-cylinder with 115 PS. The 1.5 TSI evo ranks above this with 150 HP and cylinder deactivation. The diesel engines start with the 1.6 TDI with 115 hp and are supplemented by the well-known 2.0 TDI with 150 or 190 hp. And as befits a modern vehicle, there are also all kinds of assistants: everything is available, from park steering to lane, traffic jam and trailer assistants. There will also be a selection of driving profiles to improve the terrain properties - but purely electronically. In view of the main area of application of today's SUVs, this also makes sense, as they are rarely hunted over hill and dale.
