The new Mazda era, he should represent as a lifestyle and reliable station wagon, as a figurehead for model year 2017 in the mid-range range, the Mazda6 station wagon. The KODO design (flowing movements from the animal world) inspired the Japanese engineers. Its front and side lines are to stand together with its SUV colleague CX-5 model for future vehicles from the house Mazda. The combination variant of the D-segment vehicle actually combines modern design with driving pleasure and high utility value. The Skyactiv 145 PS petrol engine with first-time vehicle dynamics control G-Vectoring Control was tested in the 14-day test. The entry is the sporty Japanese at a price of 25.690 Euro.
Mazda6 Combi Skyactiv-G
Reliability made in Japan
Reliability as a brand message
Since 2012 and already in the 3. Generation on the world market drives the Mazda6 while his cycle end contrary, but with the so-called facelift, the Japanese want to accelerate again. Despite the competitors in the German market, the Japanese car maker repeatedly asserted itself in the segment of fleet managers and company cars. There Mazda increased the registrations by 14 percent. Even in the non-premium middle class of the private market, it has held a share of 2013% in Germany since its launch on 4,6. Quality, durability and reliability are the attributes that keep the Mazda6 station wagon up to par. This at least excludes the recent JD Power customer satisfaction survey.
Dynamic suspension tuning
Bumps and also from and to potholes of the urban road, the Mazda6 combi Skyactiv-G gasoline engine is very well off and even with evasive maneuvers, he can move sovereign. This is already noticeable after a few kilometers. High stability and comfortable handling can be considered a hallmark of the sporty estate car. The easy-to-move power steering also gives a good feeling of feedback. So the vehicle makes a very good figure even when driving straight. The dynamic tuning of the suspension also irritates to fast cornering. For the first time in the Mazda6 built-in dynamics control G-Vectoring Control (GVC) adjusts the engine torque of the situation, influences the Einlenkverhalten and thus contributes to the stabilization on straight lines and in curves equally.
Strong 145 horsepower
The manufacturer's specified standard consumption of 5,6 liters on 100 kilometers is in practice not entirely create. Our test car demands good 6,2 liters. But that is still a remarkably good value for a vehicle like the Mazda6 as a station wagon. The 2.0 Skyactiv delivers decent 210 Newtonmeter torque at 4.000 revolutions per minute. The power of the 145 PS powerful engine accelerates the 1,5-tonne car from zero to 9,6 km / h in 100 seconds. At the top are up to 206 km / h in it, the exhaust standard 6 is achieved dutifully. The very well-translated manual six-speed manual transmission allows sporty-dynamic driving with short and precise shifting paths.
Pleasant ambience
With a vehicle length of 4,80 meters, not only five people can comfortably fit in the Mazda6 station wagon. At full seating the middle grader does not even stingily at the trunk volume. 522 liters of maximum capacity are among the values in the upper third of the class. If the Mazda driver breaks down the entire rear seat, the vehicle opens up a stowage volume of hefty 1664 liters, which makes unproblematic transportation even of bulky goods easy. The clear and well-structured cockpit with the instrument panel as an eye-catcher and control center contributes to the generous sense of space ahead. The combination of controls, which is already characteristic of the Japanese, also allows inexperienced drivers of a Mazda to approach navigation, telephony, media and on-board computers very quickly and intuitively. Another plus is the comfortable front seats, which can be adjusted only manually, but in many ways. Lumbar spine and back thank you just for a long ride.
New KODO optics
Sliding movements and flowing shapes from the animal world or elegantly precise details of a bow led the Japanese designers to the KODO look of the vehicle. The front with the hood pulled long forward and a new typical Mazda grill with a dominant chrome clasp and a large emblem are an eye-catcher. The narrow headlights with their LED daytime running lights end in a curved bead that connects the front and rear. Visually stretched with its long overhang, the Mazda6 station wagon also demonstrates from the rear view that it stands wide and athletic on the road.
Plenty of amenities for a low price
The equipment variant "Exclusive" comes as standard with features such as a parking aid (RCTA - the system warns when leaving a space in front of vehicles arriving on the left or right), the City Emergency Brake Assistant (SCBS - collisions up to a speed of 80 km / h prevented or their consequences reduced), a cruise control system with a speed limiter and a lane change assistant (BSM - warnings are given of vehicles approaching from behind in the neighboring lanes in the so-called blind spot). Then there is the “MZD Connect”, Mazda's gateway to the digital world. The 7-inch color touch display combines mobile access to internet and social media functions as well as an integrated SD navigation system. In addition to the list price of our test vehicle of € 30.190, there is only the additional price of € 750 for the metallic paint.
And finally ...
The Mazda6 station wagon offers not only a pleasing appearance but also a lot of amenities in terms of technology and comfort features. Combined with its utility, it not only presents itself as family-friendly, it also brings a lot of driving pleasure.
