Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury

There are more details on the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury vision to be presented by Mercedes-Benz at Auto China 2018 in Beijing. There you can see a crossover, a mixture of an SUV and a highly exclusive high-end sedan. The show car, which is to be exhibited in Beijing, combines the typical design features of both body variants.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is designed as an electric vehicle with four permanent synchronous electric motors and a fully variable all-wheel drive. The planned output is 750 hp, which should be enough for a range of just over 80 kilometers (according to NEDC = New European Driving Cycle) thanks to the 500kWh batteries integrated in the underbody of the SUV.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury – exclusive travel at the highest level

Gordon Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG, says about the new project: "The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a completely new archetype that has never been seen before. Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a sedan to create an ultra-modern SUV with a three-box design. With sensuality and sheer sophistication, we have created a timeless vehicle that underscores the position of Mercedes-Maybach as the ultimate luxury brand.”

"

With this vision, Mercedes-Benz wants to stay true to the Maybach maxim and "create the very best from the very best". Ultimate luxury is combined with the perfection of Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the exclusivity of Maybach.

Did you know, that …

… the Maybach company was founded in 1909 by Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin and Wilhelm Maybach? In 1960 Daimler-Benz took over the company. In 2002, the premium brand for the luxury car division was reborn. In 2012, Daimler AG decided to no longer use the Maybach brand due to a lack of profitability. Since 2014, Mercedes-Maybach has been a so-called supplementary or secondary brand of Mercedes-Benz.

Combination of automotive influences from Asia and Western Europe

The aim of the show car is to stimulate a cultural dialogue. Influences from the Far Eastern hemisphere should blend with western influences. For example, "Magic Wood", ebony, is traditionally used in Chinese furniture design. The combination of SUV and notchback sedan also underscores this motif, as these are the most successful body variants not only on the international market, but above all on the Chinese market.

A feature of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is the great amount of space in connection with the raised seating position of the passengers in the rear. The occupants should travel like on a sedan chair, surrounded by luxury at the highest level. Since the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is primarily designed for chauffeur-driven use, its design is strongly geared towards the rear passengers and their well-being. There, the cozy feeling of space can be experienced particularly intensively.

From the teapot to diamond quilting in rose gold

In the interior of Maybach luxury SUV dark ebony stands out excitingly against the surrounding areas of white leather. Seats with matching seat cushions can be maneuvered into any imaginable position. A heated tray with cups and a teapot is fitted in the center console. In Asia, the philosophy of tea plays a key role in bringing body and mind into balance and finding the way to inner peace and strength.

Visionary show cars are a tradition

With its dimensions, the Ultimate Luxury (length/width/height: 5,26 x 2,11 x 1,76 meters) continues the series of visionary design show cars from Mercedes-Benz.

  • Vision EnerG Force (Los Angeles, 2012)
  • AMG Vision Gran Turismo (Sunnyvale, 2013)
  • Vision Tokyo (Tokyo, 2015)
  • Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coupé (Pebble Beach, 2016)
  • The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet (Pebble Beach, 2017)

It remains to be seen whether the vision will become reality. The target group is clearly defined. Anyone who appreciates luxury, an extraordinary interior and perfect manufacturing quality is certainly in the best of hands with Mercedes-Maybach.

Mercedes-Benz has its own Landing Page set up for the new vision concept. There you will find more information about the super luxury SUV.
