VLN run 911 - “Half a million Baby!”

The new Porsche 911 GT3R will be delivered to customer teams from December. But no car of the Stuttgart leaves the factory gates in the direction of the customer's hand, before you have not tested extensively. Frosty temperatures at VLN-Lauf 9 were the environment for the race track test of the new Zuffenhausen car at the weekend.

Successful trial for the new Porsche 911 GT3 R on the Nordschleife

With the starting number 911 for the first training within a race.

With a score of 8: 13,340, the new athlete's training was already very successful. Frosty temperatures in the Eifel do not make it easy for the machine and tires to get up to temperature. Nick Tandy and Fred Mackowiecki sat at the wheel of the 991. The vehicle was used by the Manthey team. If the training was still a successful “test” - the race is to be assessed as a “super successful” test.

Nothing on the podium

If the first training time was enough for a starting position on P10 - the result of the race can be described as a great success. A smooth first race, an 8: 10.828 as the fastest race lap and in the end a third place on the podium! The more than 3 HP strong bolide should have shown what the customer athletes are carved out of in Zuffenhausen. It was clear that he had “racing victories” in his genes.

However, the GT3 R still had the engine of the previous model installed. The new engine was meanwhile still running test bench tests in Weissach and in the USA. And even if Porsche Motorsport Director Dr. Walliser emphasized that “today the focus was not on performance”, the first race can be described as “successful”.

If you are now interested in a Porsche 911 GT3 R in racing trim: Porsche sells the vehicles for 429.000 €. Net.
