VW Arteon - The art of laminating

VW will present the new Arteon range at the Geneva Motor Show (9. to 19. March 2017). Technically, it is a Passat derivative, which, however, should attract customers with higher demands. The coupé-like sedan is therefore a replacement for two models: on the one hand, as a direct successor to the CC, the newcomer is also intended as a Phaeton replacement.

The large tailgate with integrated spoiler should allow ample access to the trunk of the VW Arteon

In order to clearly stand out from the Passat, the Arteon comes up with an aristocratic face, in which the chrome-plated radiator grille ribs are continued by LED elements in the three-dimensional headlights. A picture of the front published before the Geneva premiere indicates that the Arteon will be very similar to the “Sport Coupé GTE” study, which was also presented in Geneva in 2015.

The Arteon should also convey an independent character thanks to its Fastback body. Similar to the GT models from BMW or the Sportback variants from Audi A5 and A7, the Arteon offers a large tailgate. The portal with integrated rear spoiler is intended to provide good access to a large luggage compartment.

VW has not yet revealed any further details on the technology of the Arteon. However, the future model is likely to slightly outperform the Passat in terms of exterior dimensions, but in terms of the drives and infotainment technology, it will largely fall back on shelving solutions from Passat and the newly lifted Golf.
