In my purchase advice on the iconic high-roof station wagon from Citroën, the technical data should not be missing. This article now deals with the data and facts about the engine, the curb weight and payload of the Berlingo and the size.

The petrol engine

The petrol engines with an output of 98 HP and 120 HP are each based on the same engine. With a displacement of 1.598 liters, the 1.6 four-cylinder in-line engine is adequately equipped - but must not be charged by turbo or compressor. The torque of the two naturally aspirated engines is correspondingly low: 152 Nm at 3.500 revolutions for the 98 PS engine and 160 Nm at 4.250 revolutions for the 120 PS engine. These two petrol engines are particularly suitable for infrequent drivers.

The consumption values in the combined Euro NEDC are specified with 6.7 and 7.3 liters on 100 KM.

The curb weight of the two petrol engines is 1.550 and 1.581 kilograms, respectively, and so the paradoxical situation arises that the smaller petrol engine can load more - namely 525 kilograms compared to 494 kilograms for the 120 hp petrol engine. There is a stalemate with the trailer load, both are approved for trailers weighing up to 3 tons.

The top speed of the VTi 95 is 162 km / h and the VTi 120 reaches 177 km / h.

The diesel

In principle, Citroën also relies on one engine for diesel engines. The 1.560 ccm³ turbo diesel produces exactly 75 hp in the HDi75, 90 hp in the HDi92 and 115 hp in the HDi114. With 230 Nm at 1.750 rpm, the basic diesel already has significantly more power than the 120 PS petrol engine. The HDi90 is specified with the same force and the HDi115 with 240 Nm at 1.500 revolutions.

If you use the loading capacity of your Berlingo frequently, you should be able to enjoy the powerful diesel engines in everyday life much more than the cheaper petrol engines. The HDi115 is especially recommended for people who like to travel often and often on long journeys. With 176 km / h, the HDi115 is clearly the quickest Berlingo in the entire package.

The consumption values according to NEDC are given with 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers for the HDi75 and the HDi90, only 4.7 liters on 100 KM for the e-HDI90 Airdream, in conjunction with the automated six-speed gearbox it should even be only 4.6 liters. The 114 PS Diesel comes with 5.3 liters in NEDC mode.

The tank contains 60 liters for all engines - in the case of economical diesel, it can easily cover 1.000 kilometers.

Important: The e-HDi 90 airdream EGS6 is a vehicle of the new efficiency class A. The larger diesel comes on a B and the petrol engine on C and D.
