Car sales on Amazon - new Fiat cars to click

Fiat also wants to sell cars on Amazon in its home market. First, the small cars Panda, 500 and 500L are available online in Italy, as reported by the magazine "Auto Motor und Sport". The cars are said to be up to 33 percent cheaper than comparable models from dealers. Just under 500 euros are called for the Fiat 11.500 Lounge, the list price is 16.000 euros. After the purchase on the Internet, further processing takes place via local dealers.

Fiat's attempt to open new sales channels is not an isolated case. In the US, Hyundai is also testing its collaboration with Amazon; there customers can order test vehicles online. The Swedish manufacturer Volvo has already sold a special model of the XC90 exclusively on the Internet and wants to make further such offers in the future. So far, however, the industry has also largely held back out of respect for its dealers, who ultimately also operate the service network. (Holger Holzer / SP-X)
