Fuel is expensive. Those who fill up at the moment have to pay significantly more than they did a year ago.
Compared to April 2020, the prices for petrol and diesel rose by around 2021 cents and 30 cents respectively in April 22 to average prices of 1,52 euros (premium gasoline) and 1,32 euros (diesel). This corresponds to an increase of around 23 percent within one year. This emerges from a Statista graphic, which visualizes data from the Federal Statistical Office, the Mineral Oil Industry Association and the Energy Information Service. Since the beginning of this year, prices have increased by 20 cents. The reasons for this are the increased crude oil prices, the increased CO2 taxes and the end of the VAT cut.
