Battery or fuel cell? A French racing driver believes in the latter and is speeding up the pace with his electric car start-up Hopium.
In France, there is a particularly strong belief in the future of hydrogen-powered vehicles. This is probably why the racing driver Olivier Lombard, a member of the Moulin Rouge family, founded the start-up Hopium, which has now presented the first prototype of a future fuel cell sedan called the Alpha 0.
The images published so far show a sporty, elegant coupé sedan with an expressive light design, for which only a few key data have been given so far. The vehicle should have a more than 368 kW / 500 PS electric drive and reach a top speed of 230 km / h. The hydrogen supply in the underfloor tanks should allow a range of more than 1.000 kilometers with one tank filling.
At the beginning of 2022, Hopium plans to publish further details about the future production vehicle. Anyone who is already convinced can secure one of the first 410 copies by paying a reservation fee of 1.000 euros. Hopium wants to enter industrial production in 2025. The purchase price should be around 120.000 euros.
