News: Skoda Octavia RS 230 - More power is always possible

With a base price of 33.490 Euro comes in mid-September the Skoda Octavia RS 230 on the market. The new top version of the mid-range series is also available as a station wagon, which then costs at least 34.150 euros. In both body versions, a version of the 169-liter turbo gasoline engine strengthened to 230 kW / 2,0 PS is used, which also works in the standard RS with 162 kW / 220 PS. Thanks to the small power syringe, the top speed of the sedan increases by 2 km / h to 250 km / h - the highest value for a production Skoda. Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h takes 6,7 seconds. The manufacturer states the consumption as 6,2 liters.

As with the standard RS, the features of the RS 230 include sports seats, sports suspension and progressive steering. An premiere in the new top-of-the-range model is an electro-hydraulic front axle lock, which distributes the drive power between the wheels with the help of a multi-plate clutch. Up to 100 percent can be steered to the outside wheel, which is to minimize understeer in tight bends.

Additional horsepower and additional equipment are also reflected in the price. The standard model is cheaper at 30.490 euros 3.000 euros. The Skoda's competitors include the somewhat smaller VW Golf GTI, which is available in exactly the same two power levels. There the prices for the 230 PS variant start at 30.400 euros.
