The abbreviation EMR3 should say little even to car connoisseurs. But the E-Motor is known in many E-cars used. Now the successor version has been presented.
Vitesco Technologies, a Regensburg-based subsidiary of the supplier Continental, has presented the EMR4, a successor generation to its EMR3 electric axle drive. Compared to the EMR3, which is currently in more than 20 models like the Opel Corsa-e or is used in the Dongfeng Fengshen Yixuan, the EMR4 offers a significantly larger range of performance despite its more compact dimensions and a weight reduced by 25 percent. The standardized, highly integrated and scalable drive platform can provide between 80 kW / 109 PS and 230 kW / 313 PS. In the previous model, the EMR3, the output range extends from 120 kW / 163 PS to 150 kW / 204 PS. In addition to more power, Vitesco promises up to 5 percent better axle drive efficiency, which will give future electric cars more range.
